Esteban A. Salgado – Editor-in-chief
Born and raised in California, Esteban found his way to Oregon in 2012. He started his journey at Chemeketa in the Fall of that year before unceremoniously dropping out several years later. Since his return to Chemeketa in the Fall of 2022, Esteban has been quite busy. In addition to his duties as Editor-in-Chief of Tempest, Esteban serves as the president of the Associated Students of Chemeketa while also managing the English Club. After graduation, he plans to double major in English and History before attempting to complete both an M.A. and Ph.D. in English. When he is on campus, Esteban can be found hanging around the Student Life office or haunting the office hours of his professors in Building 1.
Samantha Schmidt – Social media manager/reporter
Samantha, a non-traditional and first generation college student, is in her final term at Chemeketa. After graduating with her ASOT-BUS degree, she plans to attend Pacific University in the fall to complete her bachelor’s degree in Business. Outside of school, Samantha can be found hanging out with her plants in her garden. Some of her many interests include music, reading, animals, baking, and anything spooky! Her admiration for the importance of journalism, and the hard work that goes along with it, led her to join the team early on in the academic year. Now that the Tempest has finally launched, Samantha is excited to see what she can bring to the team before her time at Chemeketa comes to an end.
